Jazz and classical playing styles impress different characters to the notes played: Jazz sounds raw, classical more refined. I used signal processing and spectral classification techniques to assist saxophonist Vanessa Hasbrook in her investigation of the various mechanisms that contribute to the characteristics of the played notes.
